Grams

Ah, the Grammys... one of our favorite nights to pick for what they chose to wear the next day.The red carpet is always an eclectic mix of truly stunning ensembles, along with brow raising choices. The past few years, stars have showed up in outlandish clothing, playing with fashion and Therefore, we've come to expect the unexpected. This year, several stars exuded true glamour, while some completely missed the style boat.

Rihanna, known for her fierce and edgy aura oozed sex appeal in a sleek Armani dress with a plunged neckline,.RiRi explained that it was inspired by Michelle Pfeiffer in Scarface; “Simple but sexy… and a little gangsta.” Sounds like RiRi in a nutshell. A gold mid-arm bangle and sleek metallic clutch tied the entire look together, along with her soft, beachy bombshell waves- truly sizzling.

First off, let me express how much I love the fact that Katy Perry and Rihanna are besties. The recently single Miss Perry sported an intricate embellished cotton-candy blue gown straight from the Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture collection, favoring a more feminine, retro look. The modesty of the gown was unexpected of Katy, who is notorious for her ability to shoot fireworks out of her breasts.  but the Elie Saab dress just didn’t do it for her. Elie Saab Spring 2012 Couture. Althought seeing Katy in such a feminine, refined, retro look is sweet… but the enormous bottom half hides her fabulous physique.

Adele, the next classic star of our generation looked immaculate in a long black Giorgio Armani sequined gown with three-quarter sleeves and a flawless fit that flattered her feminine curves. The starlet, who took home 6 grammys that night, channeled true glamour, complete with a classic red pout- a read ringer for the 60's.  Fashion prodigy Karl Lagerfeld recently slammed Adele for her voluptuous curves, calling her “a little too fat”, but acknowledging her stunning face. Karl has recently withdrawn his negative input. The most difficult part of the entertainment industry is the immense pressure to fit to a certain stigma. The constant scrutiny, cruel tabloid issues with “Best and Worst Beach Bodies”, impossible to avoid in line at the grocery, or any convenient store, for that matter. Adele is defining odds with her untouchable elegance, charm and confidence. Her unwillingness to conform may just trigger a much-needed attitude adjustment in both the fashion and entertainment industry.

The biggest fashion no-no of the night was unquestionably Nicki Minaj. A voluminous little red riding hood esque Versace dress that had been custom made and shipped from Milan- and we can't forget about her arm candy.... a pope look alike. The classic Medusa logo was embroidered on the front, oversized hem, complete with a cape and a hood in a vibrant shade of cherry. Her performance, along with her bizarre outfit choice has left most of us baffled, confused, and somewhat embarrassed for her.

Oh, Gaga… last year you arrived in an Egg, and this year you skipped the entire red carpet ordeal. Versace wearing starlets were scattered throughout the night, including Gaga’s custom made sheer Versace dress, complete with a face-constraining net, a veil, and… a golden cane? It’s safe to say I’m slightly afraid.Would you hold it against me to say I’m slightly afraid? She looks like something out of a dominatrix movie…

Taylor Swift, recent cover girl of VOGUE, which sealed her deal in the fashion limelight, appeared in a nude silk mermaid dress with intricate metallic lace and a flowy train. The intensity of the gown made Swift look truly elegant. She ventured out of her comfort zone and slipped herself into this Zuhair Murad number.

From the front, Carrie Underwood’s elegant full sleeved Gomez-Gracia gown was embellished with sequins on tulle, oozing the effortless glamour of a southern belle. However when she turns her head, a deep backline and intense train showed her sensual side.

Even Coco, Ice Tea’s wife who is notorious for her scantily clad appearances took a walk to the less wild side in a long fitted black gown and diamond earrings. Well don’t, Coco!

Fergie popped out in a zesty neon tangerine Jean Paul Gaultier gown, leaving just the right amount to the imagination with it’s sheer fabric. Her outfit of the evening received mixed reviews, landing on both the worst dressed list and the best dressed list. Either you love it, or you hate it.
